Jakarta (8/19) – The long journey of 50 years in Indonesia has become a relentless effort for Toyota to be able to meet the diverse and growing needs of mobility, technology, and trends. Toyota tries to answer these diversity and growing needs by presenting various choices of vehicles that are suitable for customers. In fact, 14 years ago PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) also introduced a luxury brand to meet wider mobility needs. It doesn’t stop there, today TAM is back with a new brand, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, which carries the spirit of motorsport, as part of its efforts to bring ever-better cars that are fun to drive in Indonesia to meet the needs of customers who are sporty.
“Through TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, we always strive to realize our commitment to bring ever-better cars by actively participating in various global motorsport events. We believe that the challenges and pressures faced while competing in motorsport events can improve the skills and instincts of our engineers in understanding the limits of the products we use so we can improve the quality of these products in the future. For that, we always take on new challenges and strive for change, with a vision to create cars that are so fun to drive that drivers don’t want to stop. The kind of car that people will love for the next 100 years. After 6 years of being officially established and competing in various global motorsport events, today we present TOYOTA GAZOO Racing for the Indonesian people,” said President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Susumu Matsuda.
To achieve this vision, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) has established four basic philosophies. First, TGR believes that Roads Build People and People Build Cars. There are so many types of roads around the world. Each one challenges TGR to become stronger and smarter. TGR believes that the road is the greatest teacher that helps sharpen the senses to build a car.
Second, The Harsh Environment of Racing. The racing environment is very harsh. Therefore, it is an ideal training ground for TGR. In extreme environments, many unexpected events occur and split-second decisions have to be made. This experience challenged and inspired TGR to learn to the limit to support the development of a better car.
Third, Dialogue with The Road. Not only seeing and testing cars on a variety of different road surfaces, TGR also has a dialogue with the road. From freezing mountain to blazing-hot trails through the desert, on snaking curves and endless straightways, over smooth surfaces and rocky terrain, TGR engages in dialogue with all kinds of roads that challenge TGR, inspire TGR, and teach TGR to make better cars.
Fourth, Driver-centric. The driver is the main focus in a vehicle development. TGR creates a car that can be controlled and makes the driver feel comfortable. Behind the wheel, the driver communicates with the vehicle using all the senses. Driver feedback helps TGR build ever- better cars.
